The SGV Invitational was held blocks from Disney land.  At Disneyland, they have a team called “CAST Members.”  Well, our basketball players were “CAV Member.”  The tournament theme or story-line with the CAVS 9Us was team effort.  Throughout this event, the 9Us exhibited excellent team defense and offense.

The 2nd game was against the Santa Anita Mountaineers.  The CAVS started strong with good help/team defense and a fantastic offensive guard combination of Trysten Daggs and Anthony Spann.  With good execution, the CAVS were up as many as 8 points in the 1st half.  In the 2nd half, Santa Anita came within 4 points of the CAVS.  The Mountaineers had two very big forward/centers to help cut the lead.  With the nice efforts and fundamentals from Haazim Amirali and Justin Davis, the CAVS were able to hold off their big kids and help expand the lead to 11 points.  Final Score:  CAVS 34 – Santa Anita Mountaineers 23.

The Monday morning 9U Championship game was against the Las Vegas Elite.  Neither team had not lost a game in the tournament.  The Las Vegas Elite team was big and tall.  Nevertheless, the CAVS forwards of Justin, Haazim and Gavin were up to the challenge of guarding the Elite big forwards.  Just like the past two games, the CAVS built an early lead thanks to our forward and good combination guard play of Trysten and Anthony.  In the 2nd half, the Las Vegas Elite made some key baskets and took the lead.  Final Score:  CAVS 13 – Las Vegas Elite 18.

I am safe if writing, the CAVS 9U had a fantastic tournament performance and look forward to playing the next tournament.  We Done 9U CAVS!!
