11u_cavs_-_impact_-_dj_passing_-_1209_-_thumb.jpgThe CAVS 11U are finding themselves very busy during the month of December.  The weekend of December 12th and 13th the team participated in the Impact Basketball Holiday Classic.  The CAVS began pool play against Courtside Hoops.  From the onset of the game, the CAVS were dominant.  The CAVS guards were able to score from the outside, as well as from the inside.  DJ McDonald and Brian Deveraux pressured the Courtside Hoops into multiple turnovers.  Brandon Thomas and Elijah Walker were recipients of excellent outlet passes and scored on easy lay-ups.  Down low, Chasen Pender and Mike Irving used their size to dominate.  The CAVS led 18 – 2 at halftime.  The CAVS would dominate the second half as well.  Isaiah Roby and Skyler Barry scrapped for every loose ball that came their way.  The CAVS cruised to a 34 – 8 victory.

11u_cavs_-_impact_-_hunter_def_-_1209_-_thumb.jpgNext up for the CAVS was SGV.  The CAVS started this game very slowly.  Mike and Chasen executed the high low game as both players hit open shots to give the team some momentum.  Colden Davis and Isaiah Roby played tough defense against their opponent.  SGV also struggled offensively, but the CAVS held an 18 -8 lead at halftime.  In the second half, the CAVS heated up.  Brandon and Brian both had multiple baskets in the second half.  The CAVS went on to win 42 – 17.

11u_cavs_-_impact_-_team_d_-_1209_-_thumb.jpgThe CAVS earned the 1st seed and faced Courtside Hoops in a rematch.  The CAVS started the game quickly and never looked back.  DJ and Elijah started the game with easy scores.  The size advantage for the CAVS down low proved to be too much as Colden, Chasen and Mike all scored lay-ups down low.  The CAVS held a 22 - 5 lead at halftime.  In the second half, the CAVS team defense stifled the offense of the Courtside Hoops.  Skyler and Brandon made some great defensive steals that led to lay-ups.  The CAVS had a dominating 42 – 7 win.

11u_cavs_-_impact_-_1st_place_-_1209_-_thumb.jpgThe CAVS earned their way into the championship and would face the Hoopraiders.  The first half was competitive as the CAVS trailed early in the game.  The CAVS were having a difficult time keeping up with the Hoopraider guards.  The game was fast paced as both teams pushed the ball up the court.  Brandon and Brian both hit on some open looks at the basket.  The CAVS held a slim 5 point lead at halftime.  The CAVS came out in the second half determined to build a larger lead.  The CAVS buckled down on defense, and used full court pressure against the Hoopraiders.  Isaiah Roby, Skyler and Colden all swarmed the court on defense to force turnovers.  The CAVS team defense proved to be too much for the Hoopraiders to handle.  The CAVS worked hard for this 59 – 45 victory.
